Curiosity by design

I'm a curious person with a strategic mindset and meticulous attention to detail. For the past 18 years, I've had the privilege of working with many clients and for many industries. From small startups to large enterprises. Some notable names include BP, Kaufland, Volkswagen, Deloitte, EOS, Tchibo, XING among others. My focus: brand strategy and design.

Beyond my day job, I enjoy photography, records, a good read, and writing on my blog Ideas on Design. My writing has appeared in some publications, and my design work has earned some recognition along the way.

Myself

I grew up in a small coastal city near Lisbon. It was a good childhood. I especially liked the summers. They were long and I went to the beach almost everyday, sometimes twice in one day.

During my teenage years, I was very much into electronic music. I tried turntablism (scratch), beat production, and also learned how to play the trumpet. I still pick these occasionally but not as often as I’d like. I’m still very much a music person though.

I started my design journey inspired by the awesome Ninja Tune album covers. During the university I got obsessed with logos, typography and photography. I became good at the first two and average at the third. Throughout my career, I picked other things, and today I consider myself a generalist with a bunch of different specialisations, if that makes sense.

Currently, I live in Hamburg with my wife and son. It’s not as sunny as Lisbon, but I find it beautiful.
